Hawi Winter
Hailing from Germany and with a background in organic chemistry, Hawi has a very singular approach to pottery. He has assiduously eschewed outside influences, preferring to follow his own instincts and explorations. He has developed a plethora of unique tools and techniques. Hawi prefers slab pottery, and works with molds, decorating his pieces using his very own carved stamps, rollers and sprigs.
Hawi and wife Susann live on their 10 hectare block in North Waikato. Over the last 34 years or so they've planted thousands of trees including over 200 fruit and nut varieties.
Hawi has a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Marburg, Germany.less
