Conference Format
Friday 8th-9th April 2022, 6-8pm
Join us on Friday night for a virtual cocktail party hosted by DG Mark Wheeler and Hon Grant Robertson, for an opportunity to see old friends and share a drink (BYO!) as we hear from our honoured guests. Following that there will be a friendly competition between three 'contestants', including:
-
Hon Grant Robertson, Deputy Prime Minister and MP for Wellington Central, honorary member of the Rotary Club of Wellington. Grant’s belief in social justice and a desire to see every New Zealander able to achieve their potential led him to politics, he has been the Member of Parliament for Wellington Central since 2008.
-
Sir Anand Satyanand: Former Governor-General, Sir Anand Satyanand remains a well known contributor to a number of community activities in addition to formal roles. He is currently Chancellor of the University of Waikato and President of the Institute of International Affairs. He has maintained a long term connection with the Rotary Club of Wellington since the mid 1990s.
-
Anna Fifield, Editor of the Dominion Post since 2020, New Zealand's capital city newspaper; Author of "The Great Successor" about Kim Jong Un. Anna was a foreign correspondent for the Washington Post 2014-20, serving as bureau chief in Beijing and Tokyo. She previously worked for the Financial Times for 13 years, reporting from countries including Iran, Syria, North Korea and the United States.
Each will speak on a person they admire due to their community service in New Zealand or overseas. You will have the opportunity to take part by voting for a nominated charity that each panellist identifies. Your vote will result in a monetary donation being made to the charity. Guaranteed inspiration and entertainment.
Saturday 9th April 2022, 9am-12.30pm
A time to connect and discuss how we build a shared vision for Rotary in our District.
At the first plenary session we will hear from our District Governor, from a Rotary International rep, and from our inspiring plenary speaker (soon to be confirmed).
Following the opening plenary you will then attend two breakout sessions which you choose when you register. They will be informative & inspiring. Whether it is membership or service in the community, or fellowship or diversity and inclusion, there will be something for everyone to learn, and be inspired. These sessions will be introduced and facilitated by guests from across community, government, non-profit, and our own District Clubs.
