Thursday evenings 6-9pm for 8 weeks
Starting Thursday 30th April
Suitable for beginners or those who have done a taster class and want to develop their potting skills a little further.
Discover the wonders of wheel-throwing AND hand-building.
In the first 4-weeks, your tutor Brogan will cover the basics of wheel-throwing, including making, trimming and glazing pots, and in the second block of 4-weeks, Brogan will lead you through a variety of hand-building techniques including slab, pinch pot, and coiling. If you prefer to stick with wheel-throwing and not join in the hand-building exercises, then that's all good!
Follow along with Brogan's projects, or come with your own ideas and she will help you bring them to life.
Clay and firing are not included in the cost and are extra. Clay may be purchased from the studio. Bring an old towel or apron for wiping your clay hands on.
Your tutor:
I have been working with clay for about five years. Learning through the Waikato Society of Potters, to slowly setting up my personal studio at home. I started by doing a 4-week taster course and then regularly attending the play with clay sessions. The majority of my creations are wheel-thrown, but I do also do a lot of hand building at my place of work.
In 2021 I taught my first wheel throwing class and have loved teaching ever since. Teaching pottery is a fun way that I pass on my passion for making and the skills I have learnt since working with clay. I love seeing people give it a go and get excited about the things they can create with clay!
