A fun evening of acoustic music, from ragtime, through jug bands to blues, played on washboardsm guitars, mandolin and upright bass

Mike Garner’s Ragtime Washboard Kings Probably the only band, ever, in New Zealand to feature not one but two washboard players, with a repertoire crossing pre-war blues, ragtime and Americana. Mike Garner on guitar and vocals, Robbie Laven on fiddles, mandolin and washboard, Warren Houston on percussion and washboard, plus, Stuart Lawrence on upright bass. Some impressive accolades Mike has achieved in his extensive career include third prize in The International Songwriting Competition, being played on Dan Ackroyd’s syndicated House of Blues Hour radio show and a support slot for Motown masters The Four Tops, The Miracles and The Temptations at the Mission Estate concert. Robbie Lavën has a long experience as an international musician, on the 1970s, based in NZ and Australia with Red Hot Peppers, and in Europe for five years playing blues, world music and originals.
