DESCRIPTION:Javier Murcia is an accomplished figurative and portrait sculptor who\ncombines his study of both fine arts and anatomy to create figurative\nworks that push human anatomy to its ‘outer’ limits.\n\nStudents come to this workshop to learn how to solve issues when\nmaking a human body in clay. Something you see a lot among the\nstudents is the stiffness of the figures they produce. One of the\ncritical things you will learn in this workshop is to break down the\nbody into different parts. This will help to learn proportions,\nconnect parts and get a more flexible work. \n\nSculpting the human figure in clay through a simplified geometrical\napproach of the volumes, proportions and anatomical posture/movement.\nBreaking the body and understanding their interconnection helps\ngaining weight, balance, movement and strong gestures possible. \n\nWe will work with water based clay over an armature to help you build\nthe figure.  No model is required. \n\nCourse cost includes armatures, clay & tools\n\nSaturday 8th and Sunday 9th July\nThe workshop runs from 9am until 6pm each day\n\n \n - manager@waikatopotters.co.nz - https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/event7374
