DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP\n\nThis introductory interactive workshop is primarily intended for new\nstaff or non-specialists who engage with families and whanau who may\nbe experiencing family violence and associated family harm.  While\nseveral aspects of family violence will be introduced, the primary\nfocus will focus on intimate partner violence (IPV). While the\nworkshop serves as an ‘introduction’, feedback from more\nexperienced staff attending has been they also found it useful to\nrefresh and update existing knowledge. \n\nBy the end of this workshop participants will be able to:\n\n 	* Consider some of the definitions, behaviours and frameworks\nassociated with family violence\n 	* Consider some of the past and contemporary theories relating to\nIPV including the cycle of violence, power and control, and coercive\ncontrol\n 	* Consider various factors impacting on safe practice when working\nwith LGBTQ+, people with disabilities and culturally and\nlinguistically diverse (CALD) communities \n 	* Describe the signs and symptoms associated with IPV\n 	* Start the ‘difficult conversations with ‘clients’\n 	* Responding to positive disclosures or suspected family violence\n 	* Have greater awareness about court orders, police orders and\ninitiatives, and\n 	* Other contemporary issues, including topics raised by\nparticipants.\n\nTHE PRESENTER\n\nRob has worked in the family violence sector for over 30 years.  His\nwork in this area was recognised in the New Year Honours list in\n2006.   He shares his extensive experience from Police, an inaugural\nmember of the New Zealand Family Violence Death Review Committee,\ninternational experience with NZAID and health experience through his\nrole as the Violence Intervention Programme Coordinator for CCDHB.\n\nRob has developed and delivered training to many groups throughout New\nZealand and the Pacific on a range of family violence-related topics.\n\n \n\nTO ARRANGE A WORKSHOP ON GROUP RATE BASIS AT A TIME AND PLACE TO\nBETTER SUIT YOU.  PLEASE CONTACT ROB DIRECTLY ON 027-498-8653\n[tel:027-498-8653].  IF YOU ARE A GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT OR\nORGANISATION THAT NEEDS TO BE INVOICED PLEASE ALSO CALL ROB DIRECTLY.\n\n \n - robveale@xtra.co.nz - https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/Carterton1
