DESCRIPTION: THE OPUNAKE TAMARIKI EVENT STARTS  \n 8:00AM \n   \n THE OPUNAKE ADULT EVENT STARTS  \n 9:00AM \n   \n\n RACE BRIEFING \n Click here to view and download\n[https://www.taranakitoa.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Mounga-Tri-Series-Race-Briefing-Opunake-2021.pdf]\n\n   \n\n RACE PACKS \n Adults receive race packs.  Tamariki receive a medal on completion\nof the tamariki event.  Adult race packs include your T-Shirt and\nrace number (please note that T Shirt sizes will be as per your\nregistration details and cannot be exchanged). \n   \n   \n TRANSITION \n Transition will be set up on the day of the race, so the racking of\nthe bikes will happen on Saturday morning. \n   \n RACE SEQUENCE \n For this event the race sequence is swim/bike/run. \n   \n   \n SWIM COURSE: \n   \n\n The swim leg will be held at the Opunake Pool. It is a 25 metre\nindoor heated pool. Participants should attempt to complete the swim\nwithout stopping or walking. Swim aids are not permitted for the swim\n(e.g; Fins/Snorkels/Pull buoys etc) \n   \n\n 	* SHORT COURSE - Participants will swim two (2) x six (6) lengths of\nthe pool (a total of 12 lengths). This means that after swimming six\n(6) lengths, participants exit the pool and return to the start lane\nto swim the remaining six (6) lengths.\n 	* LONG COURSE - Participants will swim four (4) x six (6) lengths of\nthe pool (a total of 24 lengths). This means that after swimming six\n(6) lengths, participants exit the pool and then swim another three\n(3) sets of six (6) lengths.\n\nIt is important that participants have trained for the swim. Once the\nswim is complete participants will exit the pool area via the side\ndoor and head out towards transition and tag their runner/walker\n(teams only) or proceed on to the run course until they have met the\ndistance and cross the finish line to complete the event.\n\n   \n CYCLE COURSE: \n   \n\n The cycle is an out and back course heading up Ihaia Rd. There will\nbe a marshall at the turnaround point for both the short and long\ncourse. \n   \n\n 	* SHORT COURSE – For the short course, you will cycle 6km to the\nmidway point and turn around and return to transition (a total of\n12kms).\n 	* LONG COURSE – For the long course, you will cycle 12km to the\nmidway point and turn around and return to transition (a total of\n24kms).\n\n After completing the ride, the participant will rack their bike and\ncommence the run leg of the triathlon. \n   \n RUN COURSE: \n   \n One lap of the run course is two and a half kilometres (3.0km). \n   \n\n 	* SHORT COURSE – For the short course, you will walk/run one (1)\nlap of the run course (a total of 3.0kms).\n 	* LONG COURSE – For the long course, you will walk/run two (2)\nlaps of the run course (a total of 6.0kms).\n\n The run course will be marshalled however you must ensure that you\nview the course map and know the course. After you complete your\nwalk/run, you enter the finish area and make your way to the finish\nchute to complete the event. We encourage all team members to cross\nthe finish line together. \n   \n Please refer to Run Course map that will be available here soon. \nYOU WILL RECEIVE A MEDAL FOR COMPLETING THE EVENT.\n\nFurther information, details and all maps of the event will be emailed\nto you with your confirmation. If you have already started training,\nkeep going. If you have yet to start, get training whānau!\n\n   \n\n TAMARIKI DUATHLON:  \n  \nSWIM LEG: The swim leg is a 100 metre swim (for ages 7-9yrs) and 150\nmetres (for ages 9-12 years), also held at the Opunake Pool.\nParticipants should attempt to complete the swim without stopping or\nwalking. Swim aids are not permitted for the swim. \n\nOn completion of the swim, participants will exit the pool area and\nhead out to transition where they will then proceed on to the run\ncourse.\n\nRUN LEG: The run is a 1km run (for ages 7-9yrs) and 2km run (for ages\n9-12 years).  The run course is in the grounds of Opunake High\nSchool. Pariticipants will run around the perimeter of the sports\nfields (1km = one lap, 2km = 2 laps).
