DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP\n\nThis two day ‘TRAIN-THE-TRAINERS’ WORKSHOP has been designed to\nassist those individuals wanting to upskill and deliver training\nsessions for their workplace colleagues, their local community\nagencies or for those wanting to provide training as part of their\ntraining business.\n\nThe focus of this workshop will be ‘strangulation in the context of\nintimate partner violence’.  Described as ‘a red flag on the\ntrajectory to homicide’, strangulation together with other\nassociated risk markers it is critical that agencies, professionals\nand the wider community recognise the signs, symptoms and dynamics\nassociated with strangulation within this context.\n\nThe workshop will provide an opportunity to:\n\n 	* Review ‘training materials’ with a view that attendees will\nhave increased confidence to present relevant information to their\nintended audience\n 	* Provide an opportunity for interactive feedback and group\ndiscussions about improving training outcomes, such as providing a\nsafe training environment, responding to common questions and dealing\nwith disclosures.\n\nTHE FACILITATOR\n\nRob has worked in the family violence sector for over 35 years.  His\nwork in this area was recognised in the New Year Honours list in\n2006.  He shares his experience as a police officer, a national and\ninternational advisor, a member of the Family Safety Team National\nSteering Committee and New Zealand Family Violence Death Review\nCommittee.  Rob has developed and delivered training to many groups\nthroughout New Zealand on a range of family violence-related topics. \nLeading up to and since the introduction of specific strangulation\nlegislation, Rob has delivered over 400 presentations at workshops and\nconferences throughout New Zealand and Australia, raising community\nawareness of strangulation in the context of intimate partner violence\nas a significant public health issue.\n - robveale@xtra.co.nz - https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/Auckland0126
