SALES WILL THEN BE OPEN TO\nNON-MEMBERS FROM THURSDAY 12TH FEBRUARY, 10AM._\n\nWe are delighted to bring you this 2-day, weekend workshop with\ninternationally acclaimed potter, Rick Rudd MNZM.\nSATURDAY 2ND MAY, 10AM - 4PM AND SUNDAY 3RD MAY, 10AM - 4PM\n\nInstantly recognisable, Rick Rudd's ceramic creations are a wonder to\nbehold. They combine form and function to the point where the\ndramatically sculptural designs often mask the functional purpose of\nthe piece. They offer the observer a mystery to be solved.\n\nOver the course of two days, Rick will guide you in building your own\nteapot in his style, and learning techniques that can be used in your\nown hand-building practice.\n\nThe course fee includes:\n\n 	* Your tuition\n 	* A bag of clay\n 	* Bisque firing\n 	* Glaze firing \n 	* A list of required tools will be sent to participants prior to the\nworkshop\n 	* _Please bring a kai to share on both days, if you are able_\n\n_** PLEASE NOTE THE CLAY WE WILL BE USING HAS A SPECIFIC FIRING\nTEMPERATURE, AND ALL PIECES MADE WITH IT SHOULD BE FIRED TO A LOWER\nTEMPERATURE THAN WSP'S STANDARD CONE 6 AND CONE 10 FIRINGS. WE\nWILL ORGANISE A FULL KILN LOAD FOR PIECES MADE AT THE WORKSHOP, IN\nORDER TO AVOID ANY FIRING MISHAPS._\n\nABOUT YOUR TUTOR — RICK RUDD, MNZM\n\nRick was born in Great Yarmouth, England and trained at Great\nYarmouth and Wolverhampton Colleges of Art, attaining a Diploma of Art\nand Design, Ceramics in 1972.\n\nIn 1973 he arrived in New Zealand and since then has won several\nawards, including the Fletcher Brownbuilt Pottery Award (1978), the\nWinstones Bowl Award (1981), the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts,\nCaltex Oil Award (1983), the Norsewear Art Award for Pottery (1995)\nand the Ballantynes Contemporary Tableware Award (2001).\n\nHe has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand, regularly in solo\nexhibitions, numerous times as guest exhibitor and his work has been\nincluded in international exhibitions in Italy, Australia, Canada,\nUSA, Singapore, Japan, Finland, Hong Kong, Guernsey, and Taiwan.\n\nIn 2013 he established the Rick Rudd Foundation, a charitable trust,\nand in 2015 opened Quartz, Museum of Studio Ceramics. In 2020 he was\nmade a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen's\nBirthday Honours list.\n\nTERMS AND CONDITIONS\n\n_FOR THIS POPULAR WORKSHOP, WE WILL BE PRIORITISING TICKET SALES TO\nOUR WAIKATO SOCIETY OF POTTERS MEMBERS. A full refund will be given if the class is\ncancelled by the WSP less a 5% credit card fee. If a student cancels\ntheir enrolment within 72 hours of the workshop starting, no refund\nwill be given. If a student cancels their booking less than 7 days\nprior to the event a 50% administration charge will be deducted from\nthe refund.
