DESCRIPTION:MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS WELCOME.\n\nWe're raku-ing again! Get involved in this awesome, fast-firing\nprocess! Our raku expert, David Kenny, will run this event providing\nyou with an opportunity to fire a few items each.\n\nIf you haven't been part of a raku firing before, they are fun,\ndramatic, and yield unpredictable but breathtaking results.\n\n** One of our members Renette, is also keen to trial Obvara at this\nfiring, and she and David are happy to make this available to any\nothers doing the raku firing on the night. Take a look at these videos\nfor some info on the process. Renette will be making the yeast mixture\nfor dipping, so you just need to bring bisqued pots.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/ZtvYRM6ulUY?si=yGzfa_nlx8ajzKbU\nhttps://youtu.be/23GJbuVjA_I?si=wH2TLq9VrTl0oLUA\n\n6PM\n\n * Glazing (if you haven't already glazed, but please try to do this\nbefore Tuesday evening) \n * Kiln set up \n\n6.30PM \n\n * Briefing and firing begins\n\nNOTES FOR GLAZING AND FIRING:\n\n * If possible, PLEASE TRY TO DO YOUR GLAZING BEFORE THE DAY SO IT IS\nDRY and we can start firing straight away. If it's not dry, there's a\npossibility it could explode in the kiln.\n * Bring BISQUE- FIRED work that is thin and even, and under 180mm\ntall.\n * Small pieces survive while bigger things benefit from a\ngood Raku clay (please check at WSP if unsure). \n * Raku glazes are labelled and are in the kiln room for use. Areas\nleft unglazed will be turned black and grey by the smoke.\n * Glossy copper gives best results on its own (no glaze under or\nover).\n * Dark colours don't show the crackle as well.\n * Bigger, smooth areas are more likely to crackle. \n * Raku glazes will damage other kilns so glazed pieces need to be\nstored in an area designated by Libby.\n\nCOSTS:\n\n * There is a $10 fee for members and $14 for non-members, which is\ndue when booking. This covers your Play with Clay session for the\nevening.\n * There will be a gas and firing fee on the day for the area taken\nup in the kiln. This can be paid after the firing. A raku firing\nsheet will be used to calculate the firing cost of each piece.\n\n - info@waikatopotters.co.nz - https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/raku-nov11
