DESCRIPTION:WHEEL TO MOLD: A ONE AND A HALF DAY POTTERY & SLIP CASTING WORKSHOP\nSATURDAY 1 NOVEMBER 10am to 4.30pm\nSUNDAY 2 NOVEMBER 1.30 to 4.30pm\n\nDiscover the magic of transforming wheel-thrown forms into reusable\nmolds in this hands-on two-day ceramic workshop creating functional\nvessels that combine the aesthetics of hand-made pottery with\nslip-cast precision.\n\nDAY 1 – FROM CLAY TO MOLD\nStart at the potter’s wheel, where you'll throw simple, solid forms\nunder the guidance of an experienced instructor. Then, learn how to\ncreate a one-part plaster slip-casting mold directly from your freshly\nthrown piece — capturing your original shape in a lasting,\nconsistent form.\n\nDAY 2 – CASTING & REPRODUCTION\nReturn to your custom mold and dive into the art of slip casting.\nYou’ll learn how to prepare slip, pour and time your casts, and\nsafely demold your pieces. Leave with multiple versions of your\noriginal form and a deeper understanding of ceramic reproduction\ntechniques.\n\nWHAT TO BRING\n\n * Dust mask (optional)\n * Notepad and pencil for note taking and sketching\n\nThere are lots of tools here you can use, but you might prefer to\nbring your own if you have them. This is what you'll be using\n\n * Throwing tools: – ribs, sponges, chamois, shaping tools\n(anything that is in your regular throwing tool kit).\n * Fettling knife, chop or name stamp, brushes for surface\ndecoration, and a finishing sponge.\n\nAs per WSP custom there will be a shared lunch on Saturday.\nPlease bring a plate to share if you are able.\n\nALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE WORKSHOP\nFiring and glazing costs are extra.\n\n-------------------------\n\nABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR\n\nLIZ HELLER is an Associate Art Professor at Colorado Mountain College\nin Aspen, CO, US. Liz learned how to slip cast while getting her MFA\nin Sculpture then turned it into a profession once she learned how to\n3d print her own designs while an Artist in Residence at The Anderson\nRanch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado, in 2014. Since then,\nLiz has used various digital fabrication techniques to design her\noriginals and has recently developed this technique for her beginning\nmold making students, which she now uses in her own studio practice.\nThis will be Liz’s first-time visiting New Zealand and is so excited\nto learn about the country, the culture, the pottery and the artists.\nHer website is www.modcrmx.com [http://www.modcrmx.com/].\n - manager@waikatopotters.co.nz - https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/Wheel_to_mold_with_Liz_Heller
