DESCRIPTION:THURSDAY MORNINGS, FROM 9.30AM TO 12.30PM, FOR 8 WEEKS.\n31st July to 18th September\n\nSUITABLE FOR RECENT BEGINNERS AND RETURNING STUDENTS WHO KNOW THE\nBASICS OF HAND BUILDING.\n\nIn this class you can choose to make an animal or a human portrait\nsculpture, in either a realistic or stylised fashion. You will learn\nbuilding techniques, how to form the body shape, proportions and\npositioning of features, hollowing and more. Glazing techniques are\nincluded too.\n\nIf you wish to sculpt a pet or person in your life, please bring some\nreference photos.\n\nClay and firing costs are extra.\n\nIF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN TOOLS, YOU CAN BRING A serrated kidney,\nhollowing hoop tools, sponge, soft cloth/flannel, soft and hard old\nart paintbrushes, mirror, old t-shirt. We do have a limited number of\nbasic tools in the studio.\n\nYOUR TUTOR - EMILY EALES - EMMI\n\nI work from life and imagination. I look for movement and expression\nand try to capture a familiar moment or feeling. I discovered the\nwonders of clay in my teens, doing holiday ceramic lessons and from\nthere became hooked. I studied ceramics at the KZN Technikon in SA and\nthen had the good fortune to be tutored by “Garth Hoets” for 2\nyears. From there it has turned into a passion bordering on obsession!\nPortrait sculpture is my ongoing addictive challenge, trying to\ncapture the essence of a person, that particular something that makes\nthem “real”. I also enjoy whimsical characters where there is\nfreedom for imagination and the child within. It’s still\nexciting…. My journey continues... \n\n \n\n_TERMS AND CONDITIONS_\n\n_The Waikato Society of Potters (WSP) reserves the right cancel a\nworkshop if it fails to achieve minimum enrolment numbers, for reasons\noutside of our control. A full refund will be given if the class is\ncancelled by the WSP less a 5% credit card fee. If a student cancels\ntheir enrolment within 72 hours of the workshop starting, no refund\nwill be given. If a student cancels their booking less than 7 days\nprior to the event a 50% administration charge will be deducted from\nthe refund.
