DESCRIPTION:THURSDAY EVENINGS 6-9PM FOR 8 WEEKS\n31st July to 18th September 2025\n\nSUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS OR THOSE WHO HAVE DONE A TASTER CLASS AND\nWANT TO DEVELOP THEIR THROWING SKILLS A LITTLE FURTHER.\n\nDiscover the wonders of wheel-thrown pottery.\n\nA general wheel throwing class designed to teach beginners the joy of\nthrowing pottery on the wheel. This class will suit beginners or if\nyou have done a taster session, Mark will guide you through wheel\nthrown projects.\n\nThere will be a basic glazing 'how to' included. Emphasis will be on\nfun and ‘having a go’.\n\nClay and firing are not included in the cost and are extra. Clay may\nbe purchased from the studio.\n\nBring an old towel or apron for wiping your clay hands on.\n\nYOUR TUTOR: Mark Tamura\n\nMark is a first generation New Zealander who grew up in the foothills\nof the Waitakere Ranges in West Auckland, not too far from the New\nLynn clay pits.\n\nMark was introduced to the world of ceramics through evening wheel\nthrowing classes at WSP where he went on to be a resident artist and\nhas now established his own home studio. Mark’s  practice focuses\non functional wheel-thrown wares that bring a little something extra\nto our daily rituals, meals with family and friends, or that freshly\nbrewed morning cuppa. Mark also enjoys experimenting with wild clay\nand giving people the opportunity to bring some of their whenua into\ntheir homes for daily use or special occasions.\n\n_TERMS AND CONDITIONS_\n\nThe Waikato Society of Potters (WSP) reserves the right to cancel a\nclass if it fails to achieve minimum enrolment numbers, for reasons\noutside of our control. A full refund will be given if the class is\ncancelled by the WSP less a 5% credit card fee. If a student cancels\ntheir enrolment within 72 hours of the first class starting, no refund\nwill be given. If a student cancels their booking less than 7 days\nprior to the event a 50% administration charge will be deducted from\nthe refund.
