DESCRIPTION:ONE-PART PLASTER MOLD-MAKING with Brogan Houghton.\nThursday 17th April 6-9pm\n\nThis hands-on, one-part mold-making class introduces participants to\nthe exciting world of using Plaster of Paris to make slump and press\nmolds. \n\nDesigned for beginners and intermediate potters, this class will teach\nyou the basics, plus tips and tricks on making plaster molds to shape\nand form clay pieces.\n\nIn advance, think about what shape(s) you'd like to form. You might\nwant to use something you already have (e.g. a bowl) or make something\nnew in clay to cast. Bear in mind that the form you use needs to be\n'open' with no undercuts.\n\nWHAT TO BRING: Please bring some smallish plastic containers. If\nthey're about an inch bigger all around the piece you want to make,\nthat would be ideal. We will also have some here to use.\nNB plaster is messy and can ruin your clothes, so don't wear your\nSunday best.\n\nYOUR TUTOR: Brogan Houghton\n\n_I have been working with clay for about six years. Learning through\nthe Waikato Society of Potters, to slowly setting up my personal\nstudio at home. I started by doing a 4-week taster course and then\nregularly attending the play with clay sessions. The majority of my\ncreations are wheel-thrown, but I also do a lot of hand building at my\nplace of work._\n\n_In 2021 I taught my first class and have loved teaching ever\nsince. Teaching pottery is a fun way that I pass on my passion for\nmaking and the skills I have learnt since working with clay. I love\nseeing people give it a go and get excited about the things they can\ncreate with clay!_\n\n_TERMS AND CONDITIONS_\n\nThe Waikato Society of Potters (WSP) reserves the right cancel a\nworkshop if it fails to achieve minimum enrolment numbers, for reasons\noutside of our control. A full refund will be given if the workshop is\ncancelled by the WSP less a 5% credit card fee. If a student cancels\ntheir enrolment within 72 hours of the workshop starting, no refund\nwill be given. If a student cancels their booking less than 7 days\nprior to the event a 50% administration charge will be deducted from\nthe refund. Should a student cancel their enrolment any time prior to\nthe above a 20% administration fee will be deducted from the refund.\n\nWSP does not provide make up sessions or credits for classes or\nworkshops that you have missed due to your personal circumstances.\n\n \n - manager@waikatopotters.co.nz - https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/plaster_mold
