DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY 19 OCTOBER: 9AM TO 4PM\n\nThis glaze course is focussed on understanding the materials that are\nused in making up a glaze, including any health risks associated with\na particular material. We examine the role materials play in the glaze\nand pitfalls that can occur when trying to substitute materials. We\nalso have a go at making up test trials that will illustrate how to go\nabout the process and also how to design a test series to reveal\nuseful information. This will also cover how to analyse your results.\n\nWe’ll explore different sources of glaze recipes and what to watch\nout for before making up a new glaze. Glaze slop behaviour and getting\na more reliable glazing experience is also covered.\n\nWHAT TO BRING:\n\n 	* Notebook\n 	* P2 facemasks will be provided but if you have your own respirator\n(e.g. P3) we recommend bringing it\n 	* We like to share a lunch on our workshop days so if you have the\ncapacity, please bring a kai to share.\n\nYOUR TUTOR\n\nIn 1998 Duncan graduated with a Bachelor in 3D design, majoring in\nceramics from UNITEC and since then has been working as a studio\npotter. He was Co-Director of the Auckland Studio Potters from 2000\nto 2007 and the Manager of the Waikato Society of Potters from 2008 to\n2012. He moved to Karangahake in 2014 and set up Rahu Road Pottery.\nDuncan makes a range of wheel thrown functional pots. He teaches a\nrange of workshops from his studio including kiln firing, glazing and\nthrowing classes. Duncan also delivers off-site workshops at pottery\nclubs and private studios around the country. A full refund will be given if the class is\ncancelled by the WSP less a 5% credit card fee. If a student cancels\ntheir enrolment within 72 hours of the first class starting, no refund\nwill be given. If a student cancels their booking less than 7 days\nprior to the event a 50% administration charge will be deducted from\nthe refund.
