Rippers intake 2025/2026 season

Want to learn to surf or develop your surfing? If you are between 6 and 12yrs, Rippers will take your surfing to the next level. Bring your own equipment or borrow one of ours.

10 sessions:
Every Wednesday 5pm from 12th November to 10th December
and 28th January to 25th February.
At Midway Hub, 40 Centennial Marine Drive.
$250 for 10 sessions or $150 for a block of 5 in term 4 and/or term 1.
Prices include GST.

This event is designed and run by Gisborne Boardriders Club to increase and improve surfing participation in our district. Our professional surf coaches and their young aspiring assistant coaches will ensure a quality program with the highest health and safety standards.

In our first session, our coaching team will evenly distribute our young Rippers into three different levels:

Turtles – Catching waves
New to surfing and learning the basics of sea and surfboard orientation. Safety is a key factor. We teach you the basics and show you how you can put it into practice in the water.

Dolphins – Up and riding
Let the adventure begin! This is all about standing up in control and riding the waves.

Sharks– Improving Techniques
You are standing up most of the time, getting plenty of waves, now it’s time to steer and maneuver your board properly. It’s all about controlling your board, moving side-to-side and hunting unbroken (green) waves.

All 6-year-old kids must have a parent/adult present in the water.less
