Our practical, interactive half-day Mental Health First Response Recertification is designed to offer Mental Health First Responders an opportunity to refresh their skills, and reflect on support conversations they've been having. We review modules 1 and 3 of the original MHFR course, re-visiting our mental health support platforms (the key attitudes that will help us offer support), and our early intervention CONVOS framework. There is then time to practice the skills using timely, relevant scenarios. Participants are introduced to resources they can use for ongoing practice with their cohort and colleagues back at work and in their communities.
Note: You must have completed our MHFR training as a pre-requisite for this training.
This course is comprised of:
1. Mental Health Support Platforms refresher - this session reinforces a strong foundation for all understandings of best support practices.
2. CONVOS Support Framework refresher - practice session using our conversational framework to help you provide mental health support early.
3. Widening Support Networks
4. Practice/role play and group reflection time
Some testimonials from recertification participants:
I found the experience to be so instrumental in my role as a peer supporter. The content had some other really great examples that allowed our team to explore and really dig deep and ask some questions that prompted conversations. I especially love the Whiteboard which made things interactive and we could all see what each person had typed and posted up! This recertification gives me the confidence to be able to continue to have some courageous conversations with people who reach out and/or those who need a shoulder.
----------------------------
The re-certification training has been beneficial to remind me of how to frame conversations when supporting someone undergoing a mental health crisis. Sometimes, it may not be a crisis, it may just a friend or a family member who just wants a listening, non-judgemental ear, and who does not want you to solve their problem. The training from CoLiberate is a good and safe way to practise these skills.
